Nicholas Forrest Hill - Composer
Known for an ethereal, melodic sound and unique performance style, Nicholas Forrest Hill is an award-winning composer from Louisville, KY. In 2024, Hill won an Erik Satie Gold Award in Music Composition for “The Soul Flyer Pilot Suite - Movement 1,” an orchestral piece inspired by an unfinished sci-fi story written by his late father. In addition to scoring - and directing - the recent film "Good Boy, Fox" - which nabbed an award for Best Zero Budget Short at Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival in 2025 - Nick contributed to the soundtrack of the 2013 documentary “The Potter’s Field” and has scored numerous media projects for clients such as Big Little Pictures and Five Guys Burgers and Fries. In January of 2025, Nick released his debut self-titled album as Nicholas Forrest Hill.
But that’s not Hill’s only musical outlet. Since 2014, he’s been on lead vocal, piano, and songwriting duty for his band Phourist & the Photons. In 2017, the group was nominated for a Louisville Music Award (Best Avant Garde/Jazz) and in 2022, they won an Appalachian Arts and Entertainment Award (Best Pop). Along the way, Nick’s also directed many animated and live-action music videos.
